Simple care for foot and ankle problems

We hope you will find these helpful. Please note we can't answer email about your own foot and ankle problem. It isn't safe or wise to do this without talking to you and examining you. It's best to discuss your problem with your family doctor, podiatrist or physiotherapist, and if necessary, to consult a local foot and ankle surgeon.

Looking for the Foot and Ankle Hyperbook?

The Hyperbook is our evidence-based resource on foot and ankle surgery. It is mainly aimed at orthopaedic trainees, but colleagues from other disciplines have found it useful. Although members of the public tell us they have read it with interest, it is aimed at professionals in the field of foot and ankle surgery. The Hyperbook is written by members of the multidisciplinary East Lancashire Foot and Ankle Service team.

The current version of the Hyperbook was last updated in March 2005. You can download it as a zipped file by right-clicking on this link. It's a 36MB download. Onunzipping, you will find a file called "default.htm" in the main folder. This is the home page. Some features were planned into the page templates but not implemented.

Alternatively the Hyperbook is available on CD from the webmaster.

As it is updated it will appear on its own site. Please do not use older versions of the Hyperbook (eg on the RCSEd site), as their evidence base is now out of date.
